Drink questions, answered

What is the easiest drink to make from scratch
Fresh lemonade and iced tea are the simplest. Both come together in minutes with pantry staples, and you control exactly how sweet they are.
Which drinks can I make ahead for a party
Sangria, iced tea, lemonade, horchata and Bloody Mary mix all hold up well in the fridge. Make them a few hours or a day ahead, then add ice or soda right before serving so they stay lively.
How do I make a gallon of a drink without a huge pitcher
Mix it in a sealed gallon bag and lay it flat in the fridge. It chills faster than a pitcher, takes one shelf instead of half a door, and you can turn it over to remix without a spoon.
How do I make a cocktail without alcohol
Most of these cocktails have an easy virgin version. Leave out the rum, tequila, or wine and add a little more juice or soda. The mojito and pina colada are especially good as mocktails.
What is the secret to a thick smoothie
Use frozen fruit instead of fresh and go light on the liquid. Frozen banana, strawberries, or pineapple give body and chill without watering the smoothie down.
