Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information albino-monkey.com collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

This site is operated by Albino monkey Fundraising, a registered non-profit organization in Denmark, CVR no. DK 45109909. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that organization.

The short version

  • We collect very little, because almost nothing happens here except reading. Purchases are completed on Amazon.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We use advertising and analytics cookies, which some U.S. state laws call "sharing". You can opt out on our Your Privacy Choices page.
  • You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete what we hold. Free, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Purchases happen on Amazon, not here

Our products are sold on Amazon. When you follow a "Buy it on Amazon" link you leave this site. Your name, address and payment details are given to Amazon, not to us. We never see them. Amazon's own privacy notice covers that purchase.

What we do receive from Amazon is anonymous, aggregated measurement: how many clicks from a given page led to a sale. It contains nothing that identifies you.

What we collect

Information about your device and visit. Browser type and version, IP address, time zone, cookie identifiers, the pages you look at, what you searched for, and how you reached the site. Collected automatically through cookies, log files and pixels. We use it to load the site correctly and to understand which pages are useful.

Email sign-ups. Your email address, and which recipes you saved if you use the Recipe Box. We use it to send you the content you asked for. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. We do not ask for your name.

Customer support. Whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us, so we can help.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as health data, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, or biometric data, and we do not ask for it.

Children

This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Who we share it with

We may also disclose information where the law requires it (a subpoena, warrant or other lawful request), or to protect our rights, our readers, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information

We never have and we do not now. We do not exchange it for money with anyone.

We do use advertising and analytics cookies that pass limited information to those providers. Several U.S. state privacy laws classify that as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising and give you a right to opt out. You can:

  • Decline non-essential cookies in the cookie banner
  • Send a Global Privacy Control signal. We honor it automatically

Your rights in the United States

Depending on where you live, U.S. state privacy law gives you the right to:

  • Know what we have collected, where it came from, and who we disclosed it to
  • Get a copy in a portable format
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Delete it, except records we must keep by law
  • Opt out of sale, of sharing for targeted advertising, and of profiling with significant effects. We do not sell or profile
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

How to make a request: email contact@albino-monkey.com from the address you use with us. We may ask a question or two to confirm your identity, and we will use what you send only for that. We respond within 45 days, and will tell you first if we need up to 45 more. There is no charge.

Authorized agents: you may appoint someone to make a request for you. We will ask for written permission signed by you.

Appeals: if we decline and your state gives you an appeal right, reply within 60 days with the word "Appeal". A different person will review it and answer in writing within 45 days. If we still decline, you may complain to your state Attorney General.

Requests about an Amazon order should go to Amazon, since they hold that data.

Your rights in Europe and the United Kingdom

If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Our lawful bases are your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies) and our legitimate interests (keeping the site working and improving it).

We are established in Denmark. If you are not satisfied with how we handled a complaint you can contact Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk), or the supervisory authority in your own country. In the UK that is the ICO (ico.org.uk).

How long we keep it

Email contacts are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. Analytics data expires on the provider's schedule, generally within 26 months.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfect, but we limit who can see reader data and we do not keep what we do not need.

Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have a legal or similarly significant effect.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit. We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: security and basic site function. The site cannot work without these.
  • Analytics cookies: to count visits and see which pages are useful.
  • Advertising cookies: to measure whether our ads brought someone to the site.

You can accept or decline the non-essential categories in the cookie banner and change your mind later, or block cookies in your browser settings.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is no agreed industry standard for the older "Do Not Track" signal, so we do not respond to it. We do honor Global Privacy Control and treat it as a valid opt-out of sharing for that browser.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed. If we make a material change we will say so on the site.
