Why four bags in two colors

One bag is useful. Four bags change how you cook, because there is always one free while the others are in the freezer, the fridge or the dishwasher. The two colors are there for a reason, not for looks.

What fits in one bag

A 4 to 5 lb whole chicken with room for brine, a rack of ribs, two pounds of chicken breast, a 2 lb sourdough loaf or a full countertop ice-maker batch. The bag holds 16 cups in total. For soup you plan to freeze flat, about 8 cups leaves room to press the air out and close the zip cleanly.

Good to know before you buy

We would rather you know these now than find out in your kitchen:

The zip is firm on purposeThe stiff double-lock zip is what keeps soup and brine in. Start the slider at the very edge of the track.
Frozen shut?Hold the seal under warm water for about 10 seconds and it opens.
Strong colors can tint clear siliconeTomato and turmeric can tint a clear bag if left overnight. That is why the 4 pack has blue bags for sauces and marinades.
Smell after washing?Soak the bag in baking soda water, or bake the open bag at 250°F for 20 minutes.
Too big for sandwichesThese are XXL bags for batch cooking, brining and bulk freezing, not lunch bags.

How do I use the FREEMANSET10 code?

Does the code work on single bags?

No, FREEMANSET10 is only for the 4 pack. The single blue bag has its own code, BLUEBAG10, and the clear bag has CLEARBAG10.

Are they really leakproof?

Yes, when the slide bar is pushed fully across the double-lock zip. Soup, marinade and brine stay in, even with the bag lying on its side in the freezer.

Can they go in the microwave and the dishwasher?

Yes. They are rated from -76°F to 428°F. Microwave with the zip open, and wash on the top rack. Stand them upside down to dry.

Can I use them for sous vide?

Yes. Press the air out, close the zip and clip the top edge to the side of the pot so the bag stays under water. Our sous vide guide shows how.

Why not just buy two single bags?
